Hello everyone my name is chris aka naked_dog_reefer on instagram I've been out of the hobby for about 6 years now after a major tank crash during a house move and lost my entire 12' reef

fast foward to now and the new tank build its a 220 gallon tank that i found on Craigslist for an old school price $1 a gallon

I began by building the stand with 2x4s then sheeted it with a mahogany veneer,trimmed it all out built doors and stained it all

next came the filtration system i started with a couple used acrylic tanks a rubbermaid tub and a deltec skimmer. I ordered a bunch of acrylic and started building

created my rock scape

i built my overflow box it uses 3_1-1/2" tubes and2_2" drains

built the light setup im running halides t5s and leds

added some fish and cleaner crew and a few corals and thats pretty much where im at today

Wow, a lot of cool stuff going on here. What are the blue cylinders for? Also, love the arm rest on the stand. Can you walk on it for tank maintenance?

The cylinders are reactors i made they are 6"×12" each and yes i can stand on the bar front

I started with 6 acrylic vases i got from a florist supply company. I glued the upside down onto a piece of teal acrylic then cut holes in the centers top and bottom. Made a manifold for the bottom and lids for the top with shutoffs to control the flow for each one individually. I have 2 running carbon and media pads stacked in the other 4 with a piece of pvc spaced in between each one. It all runs off a reef octopus varios4 pump

Thanks i kinda went a little overboard on my filtration its probably big enough to do a tank 4 times the size of my 220
