Hey Rick, are you going with a rimless tank on your next build?
No. I am going back to a euro braced tank. I want to put some nice fish in it and don't want to risk jumpers. Also it will be in our new facility, so we don't want something flying into the tank on accident. It is a work environment.
I haven't updated this thread in a while! This tank is still up and running. Lost a couple fish and corals due to my apex glitching out while we were traveling to ReefAPalooza. Luckily we came home right before I lost everything. The power went off due to a storm. When it came back on my apex head unit initialized but none of the attached modules or power bars re initilized. Luckily my return pump came back on but nothing else did. Ato was not on so no top off ran. This was 3 days so my sump return area enough water but was almost dry. Pump was blowing bubbles back into the tank. Everything is fine now. it's been 2 weeks.
I will get some updated photos here soon.
That's a bummer man! Your tank has so many design elements in it that I stole for my build! LoL.
That's why I enjoy sharing everything, to inspire! Glad to hear you like it. Corals are looking a lot better now.
New photos from today.
Sucks about the losses but it looks like the rest sprang back quickly.
Looking good, Rick.....I.love the stag touching the surface of the water
How high do you have the light
off the tank?
It's about 10" from the surface.
Look what just showed up! I picked up a couple frags from Jason Fox.
Here is the list of new arrivals!
Paletta Tri Color
Pro Coral Rainbow
Terra Del Fuego
Frag Farmers Red
Needle in a Haystack
Just a "few". Lol
Here are a couple cell phone pics.
Frags listed above from Jason Fox
Hey Rick, nice build really like it, Im waiting on my 4x4x2 to turn up so I can start my build and transfer my live stock from my 3x2x2
Any chance could see some more pics of the sump all up and running? Im building a 60x20x18 sump for my tank and would love some ideas of how your sump has worked out for you.
I'll see if I can get some shots for you. Overall it's been great. My fuge is just full of live rock and tons of pods and sponges. Only thing I would change is the drains. The way we make our current drain crash boxes are so much quieter. But it works fine.
Trying out some new carbon from the guys at Reef Grow. High quality coconut she'll carbon. Nice large particle size as well.
Easy to rinse with not much residue. No need to use sponges to keep it in the reactor.
Got a few new upgrades!!
Vectra M1 return pump. So far this pump is pretty nice. It has tons of flow and is super quiet.
Also added 2 MP40-QDs. These are super quiet! I had originally gone with the Tunze 6095 because they were quieter than the MP40s, but now that has changed!! Here are the Tunze 6095 and MP40QDs next to each other.
