What's the ONE TANK CLEANING SNAIL that you don't want to reef without?

You can have all the other fish and inverts you want etc. but THIS ONE SNAIL is the only one who would do all the cleaning! Who would it be for you?

Stomatellas. Super great, really only seen at night, insane reproduction rate, good and plentiful food source, I've seen almost all types of fish eat stomatellas which I like. My copperband was a pretty avid eater of them, I consider them part of long term success with keeping CBBs

i cant think

Trochus snails!

They can right themselves and are always doing their "job"... and my wrasses won't eat them ;)
That is true, Trochus don’t get picked off as easily by my two either and that’s saying something as the Chloropterus takes on almost any crab or snail that enters the tank

If they were cheaper trochus but with price accounted for Mexican turbos. Don't fall on their backs, eat a ton and surprisingly good at getting to hard to reach areas. Ill add nassarius too because they breed like crazy for me and also don't have turtling issues.

Astraea are the absolute worst. I swear 80% die in the first week due to falling on their backs.

Stomatella Snail - though I have 2 large turban snails that are always up to something.. one is frequently found swinging from an algae clip, both will take food from my hand without flinching - where most of my other snails will close up tight if disturbed.

The wrasses don't but unfortunately they're my hermit crabs favorite snail.
Bummer. Swap out those killer hermits for more trochus.

I went with trochus but you really can't have just 1. Trochus for algae, nassarius for sand and conches, bumblebees for maybe vermis. A mix is what we strive for. And no one pick on my spelling. Haven't finished my coffee yet....

No categories for money cowries and keyhole limpets? Cowries breed in my tanks, and keyhole limpets are inky-black and gorgeous as the glide over aquascape.

I love abalones, but find them to be kind of fragile. They need a LOT of algae, and must be fed suppelementally when they run out.
