You might want to find out what species of snail you have. Some will eat fish food, many will mostly or entirely eat algae.

I'm going to do some research when I have time.

Have you noticed any snot trials? I had an Oenone fulgida infestation and they would kill snails one species at a time. Some of the snails would get away but later die of whatever toxin is in the snot. The things are brutal and difficult to spot.... nearly impossible to remove.
