I’ve been getting killed at work so there haven’t been many updates. LPS are all happy. My rastas don’t seem to want to open fully. Params are all consistent at exactly what they were when I last posted. I’ve done a dip and even moved them to the sand bed to no avail. [emoji848]

it also seems my sprungs stunner is happy. It’s growing like mad and throws out it’s tentacles every night at lights out.

Just got a RODI unit and replaced the Fluval light with a Kessil A80 Tuna Blue. Within five minutes everything perked up under the new light. The shimmer is outstanding .

The company never shipped my gooseneck so hopefully they can make it right and send it out to me.

Just read the whole thread. The tank has really come a long way and looks great. You should consider getting one of the controllers for the kessil.

Thanks! I like blowing money on gadgets so odds are I’ll have one at some point. I just reread it myself. It’s been a great 6 months!

HDR edited photos from today. Hulks going to a local hobbiest in exchange for a zoa assortment which will fit my tank better.

Alk is low, pO4 is high, zoas are not happy. Absolutely colorless.

Slowly looking better. Keeping alk stable around 10 dkh. Nitrates are zero so I’ve been feeding more trying to give my tank a little more nitrate to boost color.

Added a Kessil spectral controller and parameters have been stable and ideal with the addition of tropic marin all for reef and brightwell aquatics neonitro.

Light! Allows for more control than the two knobs on top. Also allows for fading and changing color throughout the day. $100, but worth it

As passedyouby said it’s for light. Now I can ramp up and down. I go from dim blues in morning to intense midday light with more white back to dimmer hues of blue. So far everything loves it.

New member here, but this thread is like time traveling for me. My kids received one of these as a gift and in the last month we’ve been cycling. Good to see what worked and didn’t work so I can plan my own moves. Great thread. We actually bought our first GSP frag yesterday.

I am trying to start the same tank and wondering about cheap lighting? Did the initial fluval reef mount properly to this tank? Does anyone have some cheap alternatives that works well without breaking the bank? Thanks

@EmperorVtec I used a Kessil A80 on this tank and had good results with zoas and softies. I ended up upgrading to an IM 30l.
