So, I’ve been battling dynos for a couple months now. Turns out it was due to having 0 nitrates and by the time I got to it, it was far too late. I’ve finally got the nitrates up and it looks like diatoms are starting to show up. Which, I believe is a good thing? yet it’s been a rough one for me. I’ve lost all my euphyllia corals, acans, lobos, even my xinia from the dynos covering them! I’m wondering if this is salvageable or if I should just break it down and start over since I’m sure others have been here and have lost hope. Also, if anyone in the Seattle Washington area has some frags of anything let me know I don’t think I’ll have much left after this is over and will need to start over.

Sorry to hear about losses that is definetely hard to take.

As for whether you should start over my answer is a definite no. As i understand it there will always be some dinos in most tanks and it is not an issue until they are able to take control and outcompete everything else.

You are past that stage i see no benefit to starting over rather than moving forward from current state

Thanks for all the replies! Sorry I’m a health care worker and it’s been a crazy week of treating the reef and patients. I have a lot of information for everyone.

first that algae stuff is crazy it’s slimy now and the most fluorescent copper color. I’ve never seen anything like it. Nutrient export I was doing a refugium and a protein skimmer.

Lost all the coral I have except for my mushrooms.

included my water parameters and a microscope of the stuff

Sorry to see this happening to you. Have you tried sucking it all out in a water change and dosing live phyto in the tank? Its helped some on the forum (including me) to combat my dino problem pretty well. Probably due to whatever species i was dealing with.
Hopefully people can help id the specific strain to figure out the best treatment option. You may need a more focused in pic as i think those small circular ones are dinos but may be hard to tell which type given its a bit zoomed out
