Since I'm looking at having 3-4 Wrasses I'm gonna ask more stocking questions here =D

Am I overstocking? What's gonna be a problem? Should I cut something out? Could I add another Flasher like an Eightline, Blue, or a Linespot?

Currently in 48x22x22 90'ish Gallon Display:
CB Occ. Clown Pair
CB Banggai Cardinal
CB Yellow Watchman Goby
CB Royal Gramma

In temporary tank, waiting to be moved into display at proper time:
CB Yellow Tang
Terminal Male Rhomboid

Planned to add:
Splendid Pintail / Isosceles Fairy
Female Watanabei Angel
Carpenter Wrasse

Think the tank might be a bit small for the Watanabei, but I'm not an angel expert.

I would add a blue flasher and hopefully it gets excited!

I don’t see how people say they are poor shippers. If they box good and shipper doesn’t mess up they ship good.
This sounds like dr reef but he mostly can even get fish boxed
Looks like my fears for incompatibility is not going to happen.

Got two as stated. One was active, immediately done into sandbed as I expected.

I was wondering why one of the bags was leaking. I noticed the second wrasse was upside down and swimming erratically. After acclimation the second wrasse swam around a bit and now is not moving on the sandbed..

Then it clicked, I think it kept diving at the bag and created the leak. Sure enough on closer inspection there’s a small defect on the inside of the bag.

Were they double bagged with protected corners?

That’s sad, I’m sorry. It is best when you order fish is get from a place that held them awhile. Wrasse do like to have breaks and get comfy before shipping to next destination. Some of these fish keep getting shipped to multiple locations and that is hard on them. So guess when I said poor shippers there is more to it but many fish struggle with that too.

What fish you looking for again?

I’m taking your advice and my next will be an adorned wrasse.

Jury’s out on the first one. Going to give him up to a few weeks to adjust before declaring it a loss, but he did look quite healthy when I put him in.

Adorned it’s hard for me to recommend someone to get from. Do you have any lfs that can order fish? If so see if they will work a deal. They order and you pickup and take in shippers bag. Less risk on them and fish doesn’t touch lfs water.

Don’t give up on him. Had a melagris hide 3-4 months before she showed her face. Tiny fish with a packed tank of mature wrasse and tangs

I do. I can ask.

I can consider a fairy wrasse as well since melanurus is a bit more aggressive. Any specific fairy wrasse that would be a good choice?

I also spent the better part of the first couple weeks post tank cycle seeding the tank with ecopods and feeding phyto. Hopefully the pod population can keep him fed even if I don’t see him :)

Fairy’s are my love hate wrasse lol. Pintail, rhomboid are a couple on top of my recommendations. Have you seen the chart for fairy’s. Most in green would be good choices. Any that are listed little more aggressive might be little more risky. Fairy’s all rules mixing can fail and all rules can be broken. Every fish is different and many variables. .

Pods multiply fast. $20 Amazon brine shrimp hatchery if you want. All you need is clean saltwater and a lamp but not needed.
If you ever have a chance to get amphipods get them. Pods big brother and wrasse love them. They are mysis shrimp size pods

Just received 2 McCosker’s Wrasses. (I just ordered 1…). They were pre-quarantined together without problems. I acclimated and put them in my QT tank today.

Question: If both of them make it, is it wise to add both to my Display tank? I had read they will kill each other. One came and looks very healthy with a yellow fin seemed video below. The other is duller and very lethargic.

This one is having a bad day…. Is this a female?

After playing dead 2-3 times laying on her side, looks like she may be trying to make a recovery…
