We ate at a restaurant downtown but I forgot the name. I think it was pizza.

Booch Bar is the one about two blocks down from the farmers market on the corner across from the grocery store?
awkward pulp fiction GIF

I drove through Hilo and stopped at a highly rated Cafe. IDFK :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Photo update 2:
Big tree!
IMG_2483.jpeg

Second picture of the big tree and if you look close you'll see a cultural event occurring: a homeless man being arrested.

Grumpy birds

Then I took a wrong turn and ended up in Japan. Unfortunately it was not the worst I got lost today:
IMG_2492.jpeg

Also saltwater guppies, some sort of jack, and barracuda
IMG_2496.jpeg

Next did a 3 mile hike to this random bay.

Great hike and when I got there tons of turtle and a humpback whale!!! (whale not included in photos)

IMG_2512.jpeg

Also blenny!
IMG_2510.jpeg

And of course how else how to unwind after a 3mile hike but do a suduko

Much quieter day today. Have crashed hard though.

Woke up a bit later and went to a place that was supposed to be good for snorkeling. Visibility was…

Went back to the hotel and snorkeled the lagoon. No coral and no wrasse but some cool finds.

Finally went to check in for tomorrow's dives (manta ray postponed to Monday ugggh). Stopped and did some hike around a cultural area. Was a PITA and I am sore. The lava rock bolder fields are lifeless for a reason I think.

Or is it a G flavimarginatus? I believe they are common. Pretty in the proper light, look like lava, but light was not good for this dive.

First pic seems to look like a G. porphyreus, but the second pic makes me unsure, though what I know for sure is that eel looks like he eats kids for breakfast

They are two different eels but I assumed the same species. Could be though... Does poryphyreus live in Hawaii? Its not on the guide I use at least. If it is in my guide it think its one of
G kidako
Flavimarginatus
Pictus

The head on the second pic made me go for pictus, but the body made me think otherwise, though the amount of eels hawaii has is really astonishing, but I don't think it's the kidako though it has a fair resemblance to a flavimarginatus

After finding this pic i am really leaning towards a pictus now, the lighting really does make a difference, i didn't think that peppered morays had those dark markings on its body unless they mismatched the eel aswell.

I was really close to getting a peppered moray 2 years back and it was beautiful when it was still a juvenile, it was only now that I came to know that once he grows he had the face only a mother could love Lol
