Been a tough patch started with Dino, over fed live brine till I got cyno, that wiped out the Dino. Did a cemiclean treatment now I have a clean sand bed! Now time to try and get control of phosphate and nitrate, what do I target?
Current values:
pH 8.2
DKH 8
Calcium 410
Mag 1320
Salinity 1.024
Phosphate.06
Nitrate 4.62

Is my nitrate too low?

I’m running a bio pellet reactor think maybe i should shut it off

You’ll see a lot of different target numbers out there, I use this graph. Saw it sent my Dr. Randy-Holmes in a thread, I trust him lol

I'm not sure what numbers to follow, I have found many different numbers....I saw Randy-Holmes's info on the net but was not sure if that was today's belief. Seems as though you can be too low and out of balance kind of the new way of thinking.

I’m by no means an expert at all, brand new to the hobby as of a couple of months ago but I’ve done unhealthy amounts of research and reading. In my mixed reef I’m targeting: Alk- 9.5, calc - 450, mag - 1400, nitrates 5-10, phosphates - <0.1, and salinity 1.0264. Every tank is different though and you need to find the balance that is right for your tank. You can help determine that ‘balance’ by presence of nuisance bacteria and/or algae and fish and coral health. As others have stated, your tank is looking great... leave it be unless you’re noticing dull coloring or slow growth.
