Have also recently added a black cap basslet.

Overall things seem to be going ok.
I want to change how the powerheads are set up. Might do that during weekly water change Sunday..

Haven’t built a “nice” looking place for the RODI yet, but needed some water for the week. O TDS, what a wonderful thing.

The tank is still in the first year. Nems needs stability and light to thrive so keeping things balanced is the goal.
As for the ‘stand’ that began as a mistake on my part . . When I ordered the inTank media baskets I didn’t realize that they came with the flow directors as well. So I now have 2 sets of them. The second set fits in the edge of the hood to prop the tank up now. They fit pretty good so I nver returned them. It think they were only $5 anyway.
So funny!! I did not used the flow directors for like 2 weeks either until I realized what they were for and WOW does it make a difference!! Tank is looking great man!!

Christian, how's the tank going?

I'm in Vermont as well (in Jericho), whereabouts are you located? I'm interested in getting to know other reef keepers in the area, there's only one that I know of in the local tropical fish club, which is mostly focused on FW (I have a couple planted tanks as well).

I've been reading up on R2R and NR for about a year, though I haven't gotten my SW tank wet yet. I have all the equipment and materials I need for the build, just need to get some reef safe cement to build my rockscape before I start cycling it. Starting with a 20g for now.

Sorry for the late reply!

I'm near the Burlington area. I didn't know there was a local club, I'll have to see if I can find it!

Excited to see your build when you start! Welcome!

Hi 802ScubaFish. I’ve been going through your thread and really like your tank. The aquascape looks great and you’ve got a some cool livestock. I was interested to see that you got the O Clowns to pair and as I hope to have a pair myself shortly. I’ve just started the cycle on my Flex 32.5 and I’m checking out what others with the same tanks are doing. Sounds like your InTank baskets are pretty popular with this tank. Did they improve surface skimming in any way? Because of the lower intakes/overflows, I don’t feel like I get very good surface skimming from the upper overflow vents so I’m looking for a solution. One Flex owner on here siliconed the lower ones shut and others upgrade the return pump which I‘m guessing helps as well. Thanks!

Haven’t been keeping up on posting but my clownfish have been laying eggs every couple weeks or so back to back for a while now. Was able to catch them laying the last batch near their clay pot.
(Video’s to large but can see females ovipositor in images)

This will probably be one of the last updates for this tank. I have something a bit larger coming, and am trying to take preparations slower so that I can start off right/strong. Right now I am leaning towards tearing down this tank at that time and transferring everything.

Went through a couple of months where I was battling some really tough turf algae that just covered everything it could cling to. I did not get on it as fast and hard as I should have from the beginning and lost a couple of corals along the way because of it.

I’ve managed to fend it off almost completely at this point, finally clearing all the rocks (no grow-back at all) but maybe a 1”x1” patch in the back corner that has held on.

My clownfish have been laying eggs consistently for some time, and I can see the flash from the eyes in the eggs in the final days of each cycle so I assume they are being fertilized.

The small cup in the front left corner has a really nice piece of Solomon tree that is beginning to attach to rubble in the cup.

My icecap skimmer was removed after the pump died. I had since ordered and received a replacement pump, but everything has been testing really well without it so it’s still sitting out.

Sorry for the dirty front glass! Here’s a couple pics from today
