Hi, my name is Dan and I've been salt free for 9 years. And then to my wife's horror (and children's delight) I purchased a Reefer 350. Browsing through craigslist can get you into trouble....

But hey, I now have a beautiful tank and some top notch equipment (~3 months old according to the seller):
Red Sea Reefer 350 in white
Ecotech Vectra m1 return pump (I've got it at like 30% power right now)
Vertex rx-u1.5 media reactor (GFO/carbon)
Vertex Omega 150 skimmer
(3) AI Prime's, white with SS mounts
Ecotech MP40 and MP10
Walt smith project reef rock
Tropic Eden reef flakes
Spectrapure RO/DI (leftover from previous SW tanks, more recently used for beer)

2 days and 3 trash cans full of RO/DI later, I have a tank full of water... and snails. One of the nerites is apparently suicidal since I found him on the floor this morning (after I caught him on the outside edge last night and dropped him back in).

2 quarantine tanks are in the process of being setup.

It does seem to find everyone again and again. I've learned much more in the last 3 years though than ever before through these forums.

I think i was reefing from around 96 to 05ish before taking a 6 yr break.

Setting up the AI prime's yesterday was a royal pain. Had no luck configuring them from my phone (Android 6.0), but I was finally able to get them all configured using my tablet (Android 5.0). Even after I got them all grouped it took two tries to get all 3 to update firmware. Once setup though it's really cool how much control over the lighting I have with a touch of a button. Unfortunately while installing them on the tank I found one of the prime's has a bad fan. Requesting an RMA was simple enough, hopefully that gets resolved quickly.

Playing with the Vortechs today, reef crest mode seems like a winner so far. Nutrient transport sounded good, but it's noisy with the pumps changing speeds constantly. Also ramped up the return pump to ~70%. Any higher and there's a bit of splashing on the front glass. Balancing the reefer's drain to be silent took a few tries, but nothing crazy.

Wife keeps asking when we can put fish in....

Tank has grown a bit of brown algae which is keeping the snails happy.

And QT is now occupied with a happy Clarkii couple. I also have a couple of firefish, but they starting in a separate bucket (came from LFS at a lower salinity) and aren't coming out for picures. IMG_20160709_214531947_HDR.jpg
