Question is! Can a fish lose edges of fins like fin rot if got flukes? Iv had these 2 butterfly fish in QT for 3 weeks and did a Prazi dose for 6 days and noticed after it looked like edges of fins was white and lost little of edges of tail, So thinking it must be bacteria of some kind. I treated with 2 dose of kanaplex 2 days apart. Fish still looked not ok with white edges to tail and side fins looked little raggey and white, and the 1 fish had cloudy eye, so I though I better try freshwater dip,. Dam iv never saw so many flukes on 2 fish come off at a time! So whot are main symptoms of flukes like this?

Yes, ragged fins and cloudy eye are both common symptoms of flukes.

Secondary bacterial infection is also common with flukes, both before and after the flukes are treated.

WY did the dose of prazi pro not remove the flukes on fish before I did the freshwater dip? Think I should do a final dose of prazi in few days or just let fish settle in Qt a week before putting in main tank?

In the last year or two I have regularly seen prazi resistant flukes, especially from QM sourced fish.

I dont even bother with prazi any more as fenbendazole works better and seems easier on fish IME. I have yet to see flukes or intestinal worms that do not respond to fenbendazole.

Not sure because I wonted to get back into QT tank because stress but will check in morning,. Have noticed fish look alot better and not so pale and don't dash around so much,. Will give another prazi pro if think may be few left but it did not do much 1st time I treated looking at all those flukes from fish

What form are you getting your fenbendazole? I see it as a liquid dewormer for dogs, but do not see any fish specific formulas. How do you dose it?

Powder form from Thomas Labs.

I use it orally mixed with food, metro and focus for internal parasites

I also use it as a 12 hour bath dosed at 95mg/gal. For external worms such as flukes.

That is absolutely insane, especially after treatment, although it seemingly didn't do anything the first time around, I would still hit them with another round of Prazi (or something else), I definitely wouldn't put them in the display tank for at least a couple weeks if you qt can handle that.

Look lot more calm and not so pale today and got more colour to heads. But still looks like frayed bitten ends to tail on 1 fish,. Think it could be fighting lights out? Never kept butterfly fish before!
