i think historically the problem with this hobby is that clueless people put juvenile fish in tanks they will outgrow but then manage to kill them off long before it becomes a problem...

Like I see people buy Oscars for a 20 gallon because they are so cute when small, look like puppies. Not knowing they will grow fast and need a large tank and Oscars will devour all their small fish lol.
