After a short break (4 years) from the hobby due to a move/career change. It's time to kick it back into gear. After lots of head scratching ,measuring. Im going with a 96"x36"x36"acrylic tank, with an external coast to coast overflow on the right side. Tank will be made with 1" acrylic. I still have 2 weeks to finalize the location and size of the drains and returns. Once I make my final decision, theirs no turning back. Tank will sit on a powder coated steel stand that will measure 96"x36"x40".

The wheels in my head began to turn a year and a half ago when we moved into our home. Since moving in the house . The house has been in constant state of remodeling. My main focus has been the 1st floor.

The previous owners built a wall in the living room . This wall divide the living area and created a spare bedroom. With some changes ,I knew right away this would be the room to house my next build. With the high vaulted ceilings it was the perfect location. I have since ripped out the old flooring, widened and raised the entrance to the room. New flooring has been put down as well. If all goes to plan . The tank will be completed by the beginning of June. I still have lots to get done before that date. I need to put New windows, shiplap , build barn doors for the entrance , paint etc .Stay tuned for more

Oh, man, I love those windows! Definitely like the enlarged door as well.

Do you think all those windows will have any affect on your tank?

Looking forward to watching your progress!
The current windows will be changed out. The ones in the room now are single pane windows , installed when the house was built over 30 years ago. Will also be adding window tint to the new windows and shutters to minimize the sunlight. Thanks for following along .

Although I still have a about 3 months before the arrival of the tank . I have started ordering some of the important components. The protein skimmer arrived this morning. I went with the quantum 300 by Nyos. This skimmer is massive. My two year old standing next to it puts it into perspective on how big it really is .

My kind of puzzle.

Picked up some dry reef rock today . Can't wait to start putting it together. I enjoy the challenge of working with a pile of rocks, and creating caves and ledges etc . Def, going to need a lot more rock.

I attached a video of the aquascaping from my previous tank ,a 92 gallon corner bowfront. That tank ran for about 6 years . Video is from when I was cycling the tank . You can see the CUC hard at work. With the moonighting on, you can't see the green algae that was all over the rock. The pic of the tank is at around year #2 of running. I will be putting up this tank for sale soon.

Beyond the Reef

As await the completion of the tank which has now been delayed. We continue to work on the room. My good friend and local artist Jim Heath is putting his skills to work. This is day one ,out of three days he will be working on this mural.

That mural is awesome looking forward to watching this come together. I built a barn door for My daughters hose last year. It was a fun project.

This week im finalizing the drain and return locations on the tank . I'm going with a Bean Animal Overflow. Wanted to get more input before I pull the trigger and finalize it all .

Tank dimensions are as follow , 96”x36"x36", 1" thick acrylic . Overflow will be external , on the right hand side.

I have three 2" drains and two 1.5" returns also on then right side of the tank .
