Got the new overflow installed yesterday and brought the water line down

a full inch! Much better than the 3/16” the tank had before! Also put smaller teeth and double what it had so the little fishies can’t swim through it like before… I never could figure out why some tank manufactures use 1/4” slots on a weir..

Even thou it’s fishless at the moment I took the time to upgrade the skimmer yesterday for the huge stocking list I wanna do.. the curve 7 is way under rated on a system like this that holds 340 gallons while operational. I had a curve 10 that was given to me for a rainy day ;) this thing is a beast!

What are the stocking plans?
A whole lotta tangs and wrasses after I figure out which ones are compatible.. along with a large school of chromis… possibly a angel or 2 down the road I’m not sure yet..

Got all my corals moved from the small cube finally! Man that was a process lol.. also picked up a couple 250w hqi mh to help light this thing! What’s really crazy believe it or not is they don’t shimmer much more than radions! I remember these things looking soooo cool with shimmer… oh well! It is easier to photograph under 14k Phoenix bulbs than leds I know that much.. my Walt and pink lemonade for now! Now to build my canopy cover and ato… so the tank is currently lit with 3 xr15’s~~~ two 250watt 14k mh and two reefbrite Xho bars.

It’s coming together very nicely and looking great, Lee! I’m a fan of MH with some supplementation. How far of the water are you running the MH? Looks to be about 12 or 14 inches. Those xr15’s don’t provide much par/punch and it will be interesting to see how things grow out on the ends of the tank.

The xr’s are sitting 10” off the water and the mh are 12” for now.. I’m gonna change the lighting bar and move them out more after I get pieces and parts made lol.. and agreed the XR don’t do much.. I have a 120 in my garage I was gonna upgrade too and was getting pieces parts hence “3 xr15 and 48” Xho bars” then this tank came up for sale and my girl said the 120 was ugly! Haha… so here we are today! It all happened very fast in like a week and half.. so it’s gonna be a work in progress for awhile..

It’s finally coming together.. made the brackets to hold the metal halides and got most of the canopy done today.. gotta make some covers for the wires and get rid of the black aluminum stand on the end.. got some ideas. For all of that..

Looking sharp, Lee! What’s the material you used on the canopy?

I was going to hazard a guess at some type of PVC but then saw the thickness of it in your picture. I have to say that it looks slick!

1/16” thick… love this stuff.. easy to bend and really lite so double sided tape and silly cone works great.. keeps it clean and no warping from heat, water and corrosion resistant etc..

Great progress made so far Lee! Definitely glad to see halides in action. I’ll be following along for sure.

corey
Thank you!! Yes I’m loving them! I remember more shimmer but hey! It’s way brighter and I can see my fish now lol.. radions seem so dim…
