I'll be following this build as I'm doing the same exact one lol. My stand was missing some important holes for the pins to lock into the top shelf. So I am waiting on a new cabinet waterbox is sending me.

My cabinet was a disaster as far as getting the adjustable feet on it. 2 of the threaded inserts had been blown down into the wood and had to be dug out with a pick then re glued back into the cabinet. The rest of them were so over coated with the uv spray that the threads were too gummed to get the bolts into and had to chase them with some taps. Luckily I'm a maintenance guy for a living so fixing this stuff wasn't too horrible just irritating. For those reasons the stand took me almost 5 hrs to get assembled. For spending over 1k$ I would have expected better quality product but I'm so tired of the back and forth with waterbox that I don't even want to contact them anymore about the problems I had.

No kidding! I had the same problem and it was driving me insane I couldn't even get the feet all the way in cause it was so gummed up. What size tap did you use I'll have to get one and do the same. Also, some of the white plastic inserts were all messed up and I had to fix those also. One of them looks like it had a plastic screw broken off in the insert. I thought waterbox was supposed to be top-notch but I have to say the red sea 200xl I had far beats its in quality as far as the stand goes.

I actually can't remember the size I used on it. I have a spare bolt sitting around at home and can bring it into work tomorrow and double check it for the size tap you will need.

I had the same problem with the paint in the screw holes I ended up just using a dental pick to pick the paint out enough to get the screw started. Then I would screw it in some back it out and blow the hole out.

My stand actually had the paint peeling off one of the corners so I ended up having to glue it back down. Good thing is it's going to be under the tank anyways. My OCD couldn't let it go without gluing it.

Used a black sharpie on the corner that was damaged good thing it's going to be at the back.

I guess one advantage here is that the stand is made out of plywood and I believe the Red Sea stands are MDF.

Wow was it delaminating along the edge or just the edge that became exposed? Waterbox needs to get some better QC people.

It was actually just the paint peeling up. It is facing the inside so I am not to worried about it. If it was the outside edge I would ask for a new panel.

CAUTION TO ANYONE LOOKING TO PURCHASE A WATERBOX AQUARIUM AND STAND.

The aquarium sump and plumbing are great i have no complaints with build quality on them. But after talking with others who have gone the same route we are all running into issues with the stands. They are awful quality and I do not trust them. My stand will sway side to side with a gentle push creating a standing wave in the tank and can slosh water over the side. Having 3 dogs at home all I can think about is them trying to get a better look and leaping up onto the side of the stand and causing the whole thing to come crashing down. Ill be fabricating a steel stand before I start putting corals into this tank over the next year. I absolutly would not trust these stands to hold up and keep everything im investing into this safe.

Just a warning for those who may be following this thread because they are interested in purchasing from waterbox.

I wonder if this is an older style cabinet or something since this 55.2 was one of their discontinued tanks. Makes me scared for when my tank arrives. One of the reasons I chose WB over Red Sea was because I read that the WB cabinets were better quality. In any situation, it’s unacceptable.

Djray77 has noticed the same thing on his. As far as I can tell all the cabinets are built nearly the same with the same materials. Definatly something to look at once you get your stuff assembled but I have 0 faith that this stand is going to do much of anything if you get any kind of push from the side to keep your tank from crashing into the floor. With the money we invest into these systems and the livestock having a substandard foundation for everything is 100% unacceptable. I was skeptical when I realized these cabinets are very similar to cheap ikea style furniture. No way am I going to start putting money into corals and continue to rely on this stand.

Our clowns are doing great no signs of any issues in quarantine so we decided to toss them over to the main tank. We had a pretty quick cycle with the addition of seachem stability. Our lfs just had a couple things come in that we are interested in so we won't be draining the quarantine tank just yet. Light will be on its way shortly and outside of the addition of a little clean up crew. ill be trying to keep my hands out of the tank and let things set in for a few months.

Moved over our newest inhabitant today. Flame hawk. This guy has a ton of personality and easily recognises my wife and I when we come into the rm (probably associating us with feeding time). Curiously our lfs said he was listed as a hawaiian flame hawk when he came in. He's a total hog and mows down whatever we put in the tank. Now with the added bright red and little more movement in the tank at least one of our dogs has become very interested and now sits and watches the fish for hrs.

Going to try and get our light ordered this next week and get moving on some snails for a cleanup crew and maybe some dwarf hermits.

Also keeping an eye on new shipments at the lfs for a canary or midas blenny for our next addition.
