Okay now that you have opened the door on wrasses. What can I keep with my bully 6-line wrasse? A bigger size wrasse. I'm really wishing I didn't put him in the tank. He was fine with a yellow wrasse but then I moved him to the big display tank and he turns around and start bullying my yellow belly wrasse and finally killed it. :(

Thanks for the advise / suggestions
Other than a second highly aggressive wrasse (Which then comes with a second wrasse that may kill future additions) you won’t be able to have more.

Red Head Solon fairy wrasse!! This fish is one of my favorite wrasses and will be in my tanks that I set up, if not now in both of my tanks. Here’s a pic of one my parents have

My solon was my favorite. When it was old and getting ready to die, it came and swam into my cupped hand. It always followed my hand around in the tank when I worked. Such a great fish!
I have had a few others, but have not gotten back into them since he died. Weird, but true.

Here’s a variation on this question: what FIVE fairy wrasses would you want in a single tank taking conspecific aggression into account? Do my work for me :p
Cirrhilabrus shutmani
Cirrhilabrus lubbocki
Cirrhilabrus naokoae
Cirrhilabrus claire
Cirrhilabrus finifenmaa

I’m shocked that so few people have mentioned the rosy scales… one of my favorites!
And I’ve had a lot of wrasses in the past ~50 years. In my 450g tank, a few years ago, I had 40 wrasses (out of 80 fish) … so many that ‘Evolved’ (the wrasse expert), came to my home when he was in NY to see them!

Fancy tastes! Hah! Other than the lubbocks those guys look hard to find! Do you have these five per chance? Beautiful selections. I googled them!

I have 2 of those 5 currently but have seen all 5 emerge quite a bit. I currently have both Cirrhilabrus lubbocki variants and the Cirrhilabrus naokoae out of those five recommendations.

The other three recommendations are also relatively easy to get hold of. I’ve seen Claires pop up in the LFS quite a bit along with Finifenmaa. The Shutmani may be slightly harder to get hold of but I did recently see a couple females for sale.

All of these 5 wrasses are easy to care for and generally Cirrhilabrus has the exact same care across the board. The only thing is, what would you choose from the two variants of lubbocki?

I’m a big fan of my rosey scale. Just wish it would turn male and colorful. I’ve had it since august and it is a favorite in the tank. What can I add to “force” it to become male and colorful? Thank you

I agree, however any idea on how to get mine to change to male and color? I’ve had since august, what can I add to assist the process ? Thank you

She will turn male, it’s just a waiting game of when. I’ve had some of my wrasses turn make after 2 years, others turned male within 2 weeks.

Nothing can really force the change to happen, instead you can try slow it down. If you have a photo of her then we can try say if she’s a transitional male or not.

The pictures are not great, I will try again with lights on if needed
