Transfer water that I moved my coral and rocks to new tank. Smells really bad

Moved my rocks and coral to ohio put in buckets with water from old tank..it smells really bad should I still add it to new tank. Corals opened as soon as I opened the buckets, lost all 6 fish but they were in separate containers
