Lasse,
you are quite correct; there are all sorts of reasons to go with a full on system like Triton. Many people like to focus more on the biology of the ecosystem, and leave the chemistry to the experts. Some are tinkerers and always want the latest gadget to see how it works, sometimes then building their own to suit their purpose. And some of us like to play with chemicals, dosing with syringes and watching how the colors of corals react. I think there are enough people in the market to fill all these spaces. And this is why, I do not think that this thread really takes business away from any company. Just a few of us who have experimented sharing what we have found, and helping others who wish to experiment. But there will always be those who don't want to use dosing pumps, or don't want to bother with mixing and measuring, who will buy the Triton system, or something like it. They have their fun in other areas of the hobby.
BTW. I dose trace elements daily in my system; but I would never trust metallic ions to a dosing pump. One time failure and complete disaster! I dose by hand with a syringe.
