What is the better ALK range for a mixed reef tank?
In my option 7-10. Holding it steady is more important. 8.5 is middle and leaves a safety.
Either salt will work and grow corals. I would pick one that is easier to get.
The biggest advantage with TMP is storing mixed saltwater it will stay more consistent. If you don’t store mixed then pick from a hat

There isn’t a correct lvl, between 7-12, it’s a case of picking a number and keeping it stable, so pick 7, try and keep it there, pick 8 try and keep,it at 8.

Any salt you pick you will be either increasing the alk or lowing it as the corals use it up. I

Easy enough to change salts if you want, you are not stuck with the choice you make now.

I use 9dkh.

If something goes wrong with dosing, either too much or just stops, I want some “room” on both ends so a crash is not immediate.

One of my customers sticks to 7. When his doser stopped, he was quickly in the bad area and lost a ton of corals. Actually looked like some “melted”.

8 is good, 12 is good.....buts it’s the consistency of this level that’s king.
