You should just let them find it on their own. Forcing them to host does more harm than good

How long have the clowns and anenome been in the tank together? Does the clown show any interest in any other

Clowns been in for a year, anemone about 4 months, they go near but but never enter. They seem to host a corner of my tank

I have released them back into the main tank, they went straight back to the corner

If they are tank raised they may never take to an anemone at all. If they are a species different than what your anemone will accept in the wild, they may not be able to join up with it even if they want to. IMHO, you should NEVER try to force anything in your tank.

Hmm I’ve heard of using a spaghetti strainer. Seemed to work for the fellow that told me about it but I’ve never personally used that method. I’ve also heard of using some kind of tube that you put the anemone at the bottom and let the clown swim down. All seems unnatural but people have said it works. Many of The tank raised clowns do seem to be unknowing of the anemone relationship. I have always just released live food next to my nems and the clowns make the move.

If you leave them it will just happen. One day the clown will swim by and see that its a nice place to be. Then they will be best friends.

I know that this does not help answer your question, but I noticed that one of my three clowns started hosting today. The nem went into the tank on Tuesday night and I suspect that it is using it as cover since it may be a bit more stressed out being #3.

So far, it is mostly interested in the bottom of the nem and these were ORA clowns I believe.

I had to give away my tank raised Ocellaris clowns and add tomatoes. The tomatoes went in my BTA the day I put them in the tank.

Pour some water into the top of that... the current kind of forces the fish down. Force is a strong word, it encourages them

Oh for $&*# sake .... will these idiotic ideas never end LOL. Why not just crazy glue the clowns to the anemone. BTA is not a natural host anemone for most of the commonly kept clown species. Sometimes clowns will view one as an acceptable host, other times they will not. 50:50 at best. Correlation is NOT causation .....

I've had clowns dehost their BTA when it went on a walkabout so it's really going to be up to them in the long run. I would just be patient and accept their decision.

I had a 3rd nem after losing its mate (took down the tank they were in). The other pair chased it into the overflow where it lived for 6 months. 2 of those months I didn't know it was still alive! He's now in my observation tank for good with a new buddy. And a nem. Hoping they find it. Nem is new. The other pair are also ignoring the nem in that tank. they host a huge blue leather.
