Tuan's Red Sea 200XL Reef

2nd part of TBS "The Package" arrives on May 25th. I took the day off work to have time to carefully go thru the rocks and handling. I searched youtube for any recent videos of TBS live rocks but appears its been a long time since anyone done a video unboxing of it. I will be do so to document.

I have corals, fish and more gear on the way as well. Next on the agenda for reef gears is plumbing the Co2 scrubber.

Got some corals in the mail today. They just chillin on the sand bed for now.

Couple of hours in my tank. Looking good. I also bought an RFA that is hiding in the rock work. He looked bad when it came in but looking better now.

Got shipping orders from TBS. My premium rocks are on the way. Going to pick it up tonight at the airport.

Unboxed my premium live rocks from TBS this morning . Got them in my 20g QT to weed out hitch hikers I don't want.

i'm a bit overwhelmed today. I got all my live rocks squared away for now. Received a bunch of corals today ... dipped them all and added them to my DT. I got bunch of packages from UPS that is set to arrive today as well. Busy day.

Got all these corals chilling on the sand bed. It be a few weeks before I can mount them. Going to aquascape with as much as the premium rocks in the DT and the base rocks in the sump.

Co2 scrubber installed. Increased of PH noticed.....waiting for the attachment to connect the airline to my skimmer cup and make it recirculation.

Received my clear view tsumai lid today. It took over a month to receive it but it is worth it. Beautiful lid.

In other news , I caught the iospod that has been roaming my tank. Caught him with a coral feeder.

I received a purple firefish and a yellow banded posum wrasse from TSM Aquatics. Both is healthy and well in the tank. The wrasse is going to town with the munchies on my rockwork. The purple firefish is still a bit shy.

Still have not heard anything from Dr Reef for my clowns. I may just order from TSM for the rest of the livestock.

I upgraded my lights to the Radion XR30 Gen 5 Blue for more beef in the par side.

Got a bunch of corals still on the sand bed. Received my frag rack today so I will mount them to it while work out my aqua scape. The premium rocks is all ready to go.

Received an email from saltwateraquarium.com that the reefmat 500 was available to purchase but it was all gone by the time I got around to it. I was able to get one from Aquacave and it's on route for Thursday delivery.

Got all my dosing needs setup. Test kits at the ready. More corals coming tomorrow....let's go!

My lighting setup has been upgraded to the Radion XR30 Blue Gen 5 , diffuser, and light shade.

I picked up 2 Tunze 8831.00 led's for my fuge and have added Chaeto i bought from Saltwateraquarium. The chaeto from Saltwateraquarium came from ORA and has got to be the absolute cleanest and healthiest batch of chaeto i have ever gotten.

UPS on the way to deliver my Reefmat 500 today. Will plumb it during the weekend


I picked up a 3 headed torch and another hammer yesterday. This will make a good start for euphyilla garden. Will be searching for an Octo

Hey I just seen this thread. My 200xl has been set up since November. I’m running a radion xr30 g4, af rs 170 roller, alkatronic, bubble magnus curve , and external ato and clear view exo lid. I went with the Carib sea liferock tree.
The af rs 170 is a good fleece roller option that won’t take up your whole sump.

I was closely looking at the AF RS 170 as it is compact. But the features and options that comes with the Reefmat outweighed it. It may be also a really good time to upgrade my red sea gate valve to a true gate valve and install a manifold for the UV. I'm still trying to figure out how i'm going to get a Aqua UV 15w classic installed inside the cabinet so space is of high value.

I've never plumbed anything in my life , so this will be a challenge. lol

Been watching youtube videos on how to plumb and cut pvc piping.

Are you using the stock plumbing? I'm trying to figure out what pipe will fit my 200xl .

The Reef mat is for sure better than the af rs 170, however with the reefmat I believe I will have to remove every single devider in my sump. I don’t have a uv installed on this tank, but I did install one on my 525xl. I put it on the return line using the hose. I also had to use some 90 degree angles to reroute it. I am also not a plumber so the hose was easier for me lol.
I find activated carbon keeps my water clear enough and I have a drop in uv incase I ever would need one.

Keep an eye on your rock! I ended up having to toss my shipment due to the large amount of cirolanid isopods found during QT

Its pretty big for a fleece roller . Reefmat and my skimmer ... wont leave to much room left for my chaeto.

This guy decided to move out of the shadows.... he is slowly getting his colors back. All the corals from my first and 2nd batch is doing great.

I thought my rfa wasn't going to make but looks like he is going to be just fine. Temp of bag when it came in was 58F .

Installed the reefmat today. No mods needed to install. It's big and do take up lots of space. I'm going to redo thr plumbing to gain more space. Everything does fit as is for now tho
