Leopard Wrasse came out this morning. He's a late sleeper lol . Came out and started picking at the rocks. He is eating frozen mysis.

The sump is very small. Adding a Reefmat is going to severely reduce your space in the sump. Here’s a cheap, easy solution. Installed these 3D printed 1/3 filter cups months ago and got rid of the filter socks on my RSR. Now I swap out a very small piece of filter floss every 5 days. Much, much simpler, cheaper, and quicker.

Which filter floss you using?

My Leopard wrasse did not come out today. Not sure when I'll see him again.

Everyone else is doing great. I have 3 Pajama Cardinals coming this Saturday.

I also ordered my center piece fish today. A blue/green Mandarin. The Mandarin will be the last one added as the 10th member.

stocking

2 clowns (amphiprion perculas)
1 purple firefish (Nemateleotris Decora)
1 yellow banded posseum (Wetmorella nigropinnata)
1 yellow coris wrasse (Halichoeres chrysus)
1 Leopard wrasse (Macropharyngodon meleagris) female
3 pajama cardinals (Sphaeramia nematoptera)
1 blue green mandarin (Synchiropus splendidus)

Edit: Ok. change of plans , the Mandarin is ready to go and will be added to this Saturday's order! This completes my stocking for fish .

I am debating about getting a Nem for my clowns..... still on the fench

So i have been experimenting ALK dosage intervals and time for the past 2 weeks. Dosing 19ml of ALK per day. I previously split 19ml into 3 doses so 6ml per dose , once in the morning, again in the afternoon, and last one at night.
PH swing is from 8-8.3 I am now dosing ALK in 12 equal doses starting at 1am in the morning until noon the next day. PH swing is now much better ....see below. I also dose kalk at 400ml throughtout the day.

It's been exactly 1 month since I installed the reefmat 500. I changed to the lowest dispense length and that has helped stabilized sump water level and decrease fleece usage. At this rate I expect the roll to last 5 months. Game changer for sure. No more filter socks for me .
Curious, I just installed my Reefmat and kept the default 0.8-1” advance. Is this what you kept yours at initially? I am curious if I should just change it to the lowest at 0.2” since the sump level fluctuated a bit much and triggers ato more often than it used to. Thanks!

Leopard wrasse needs 100g tank minimum and they devour pod populations which means a difficult time for your mandarin to compete for food.

Fortunately the leopard wrasse I bought is eating prepared foods. She eats frozen mysis readily so not concerned about pods. The Mandarin will be the same. It is already taking frozen foods.

Yes, I kept mine at default at 1st. Then changed to the lowest setting and the sump water level is constant . I still haven't even used half a roll in my reefmat. Could be 2 more months before I need to change it out.....I have enough rolls to last me years! lol

Nice to see the TBS rock! Glad that the girls were able to take over for Richard so he could enjoy his retirement. :)

I might have missed it... what size package did you get?

I bought the 40gallon package which consists of 40 pounds of base rock, 40 pounds of premium live rock, 40 pounds of live sand , and the snails package. TBS calls it "The Package" lol

Yup, All my tanks so far have been TBS tanks. Even had the change to fly out there and go out on the boat with Richard. :D Getting that second shipment is the most fun. Or at least it was... he would send a bunch of gorgonians, sponges, etc. Do they still do that?

Here's an old link to my trip in an old build thread on RC. I can't believe its been 10 years now.

I didn't get anything extra other than what was on the rocks. No complaints at all. My order came promptly to the airport on time which was the most important part of it. They still rock!

I received 3 Pajama Cardinals this morning and they are acclimating.

The Mandarin however did not survive the shipping. :( more to come.

Lost my 1st fish after 5 years of reefing. Such as shame to have lost a beautiful fish. He was going to be the center piece. I'll take some of the blame as it was me who placed the order. He did not survive the shipping unfortunately. I'm not sure if i want to try to another anytime soon as this one hurts.
