Turbo snail eating base of SPS?!

Like the title says. I’ve recently been having some issues with what appears to be basal recession on my large Miyagi tort colony. Up until tonight, I could not quite figure out why. No recent upsets, no changes in lighting, Alk at 7.5, PO4 at 0.02ppb, yet the recession of this colony slowly crept upwards. Have not found identified any pests in this tank. Also strangely enough, the other corals in this tank have looked very happy lately. Tonight after the lights turned off, I found a turbo snail going to town on the base of the colony! Is it possible that he is eating the coral, or possibly eating algae growth on the dead part of the skeleton? Any advice would be helpful.

He’s eating the algae on the skeleton. He isn’t causing the tissue recession.
