I have both. However the trap didn’t work because my sailfin tang practically slept in the trap waiting for me to add more bait. I never did catch the fish I was after.

Getting my custom boxes made by Matt (@cromag27) at Octo Aquatics right now. I believe they work extremely well helping new fish acclimate with an existing population of fish. Especially because i'm obsessed with predators and big fish that are 6-12". Allows time for the fish to get to know each other and for the new addition to get used to new tank water and start eating properly. I also keep the new fish in the box until it has a slight belly developing to make sure it is strong enough to face the gang.

My new boxes are being custom made to spec by Matt. 14x8x8. He is even installing a feeding cutout for me! Can't wait to get them.
Make sure you throw up pics of them when you get it.

I have caught several fish using the trap. It never fails! I just put it in the tank and feed inside it for one week before I even attempt to catch the fish. One week later it usually takes me 10min to catch the fish I want.

I dont own either but I should have got them both. I recently lost one of my Blue Star Leopard Wrasses to another Blue Star Leopard Wrasse chasing her non stop.

They were fine together the first two days but the third day one wouls not leave the other along just chasing after her. I woke up the next morning and she was dead

I made a fish trap using an margarita fish bowl and a wrist float. Works great once the fish is comfortable enough to enter.

1. Do you own a fish trap and acclimation box or just one or the other?

I have both. I won’t add a new fish to the tank without an acclimation box.

Eshoppe Acclimation Box

I also have the Tankmates floating bubble fish trap. And it really works well.

2. Do you agree that these are valuable tools to aquarium keepers?

Absolutely. These items belong in the reefers toolbox. Get the right size for your aquarium and always be prepared.

3. Do you have a story of how one of these items really saved you money?

I put my fish in the acclimation box before it enters the aquarium. This helps the residents get use to the stranger and vise versa. In the past new fish were pestered, sometimes to death. That is no longer an issue. They can stay in the box until the residents don’t care the new fish are there anymore.
