i bought an 6 inches beautiful maxima clam 2 weeks ago and it was beautiful, healthy and nice opened. The reflection of thr block of light was perfect!!
and it was $180....

Yesterday, I saw my textile sea urchin sitting on my clam and disturbimg it,
I thought the sea urchin was just sitting there and will leave.
then I saw the sea urchin start going deep in my clam and my clam have no reaction to my LED light anymore!

I took the sea urchin out of the tank and and my Skunk Shimp start disturbing my clam, I then put a breeder box upside down and protect my clam, it looked ok...

Then this morning.......it dead....

Still unbelievable...I really want to know will blue textile sea urchin really harm clam..

Thank you guys...sorry for the long post....

I believe it wasn't dying....it opened perfectly fine before the sea urchin touched it..
I just know the sea urchin I got is the one have blue color stripes...

I went to the fish store, they said it have a possibility the my sea urchin harm it..

Anyway..I buy a new clam..hopefully it will be okay...

If you believed the urchin killed the clam then I hope you're already removed the urchin before getting new clam.

If it was a blue tuxedo urchin i doubt it killed the clam. The store may have blamed the urchin just because. Clams dont always show when theyre dying IME. But agree the urchin and shrimp were responding to an already dying clam.

I am not an expert on clams, however if it was not reacting to the urchin climbing on it then it's quite likely the clam was already on it's way out. Unfortunately they are one of those specimens that by the time you realize they are sick it's already too late.
