Check out those back lights...Trying to be unique thinkin "outside the tank" :) Work in progress, been up and running about 10 months. coral just added a few months ago. Barebottom 75 gallon with 30 sump below with live rock and 6 inch sand bed and chaeto in the sump as well
as protein skimmer. 4 power heads
in the main tank. all
other numbers are perfect. nitrates are at 40
is this normal? anything I can do to bring them
down?

Easy fix: Run a bright enough light over your cheato for at least 16 hours per day. A 120w equivalent 5k cree led spot light from HD worked wonders for me.
