My first tank was a 25 lagoon, then a Nuvo 40, to my current 4.1 pico which I will keep up and running when I setup my new Fusion 30L. This will be the first time I will have two tanks running at once. Excited about it! :)

I think my favorite part of setting up a new tank is figuring out the aquascape. Love that part!

Here’s my current 4.1 gallon.

1. How many saltwater aquariums have you set up as either an upgrade, downgrade or as an additional aquarium in your hobby "career?" (Include your first tank in the number)

At least 16. If I included my pet store- over 95 of them.
I began with 32 bio cube, then 46 bow, back to 95 wave, then to a 150Xtra tall. Then a 125 fowlr, then to a 240, then a 360g and current 660g with a 1500g in the waiting for my arrival in Florida.
I the last 3-4 years have multiple tanks. others are 50 cube, then 93 cube to a now Oceanic 135g in my den along with current 50g Drop of tank. Prior to drop off was an AIO 20g drop off, prior was a 40g AIO.

2. What's your favorite part of setting up a brand new saltwater reef tank?

The creation, the results and the livestock that goes into it

Still on first saltwater - 120G standard, but not by choice. Finally making the move to a new custom 40"×20"20" from CDA soon. I've bought most of the dry goods and am planning to order the tank in the next week. Now I need to work on creat the new aquascape and getting it cycled in a Rubbermaid Brute trash can.
Oh, yeah.... Why? One ENTIRE year of Ostreopsis Ovata dinoflagellates!!!

I started with a 36 gallon freshwater community around 2015-16. Upgraded to a 75 Nov 26/16 (switched to African cichlids. The tank is still up and running. And on Dec 26/18 I started a 32 gallon saltwater biocube. My favourite part is watching everything come together. I also like the evolution of my tanks from the very beginning to what it is now.

I have done 3 a standard 55 which I would rather not mention a 29 gal bio cube (went much better than the 55) and now my 60 gal aio cube they seem to get better with every new tank. Maybe my next one will be insanely awesome

Now that's a history! What size are you running now?
Well, I have been doing it for a while. 450 is the current main display with a few satellite tanks on the same system.

The fact that 10+ is an option only highlights the importance of having a social life... or a girlfriend... or at least a friend who is willing to dose your meds for you. LOL

I've done three reefs, one FOWLR, one heavily planted Discus tank (one of my absolute favorites and most successful to date) and at least a few freshwater tanks. It's been fun. Just jumped back into it recently and now have two nano reefs.

i got my first salt aquarium in 92. it came fully stocked n w all equipment. we traded one of our parrots for it. as i really get into things we had 8 of our own tanks varieing from 20 gal to 90 gal. after a life changeing event, broke my back, i couldnt use cash to purchase things or stock we helped our friend at her lfs and from there started building tanks, stands and different light options. i think what gets me is bringing all these things to a liveing element that is capable of sustaining all sorts of life

3 if you count my first tank that I didn't actually setup. It was my husband's tank that he wasn't caring for properly so it was god awful looking. When I moved in, I couldn't stand looking at it anymore so I dove in and took it over. Then I set up my current 120 and I have a 20 gallon that went from a QT, to a frag tank, to a small reef that is dedicated to a giant hermit crab. My favorite part is the research part of it.

Well, if you define aquarium as a single tank then too many to count in my 15+ years in the hobby. If however you don't include things like QT systems or new components within established systems then I'd say 2. I started big with a 150G, then upgraded to an even bigger 350G tank and 700G system where I am now.

A 55 fish only rest mixed 85, 90, 175, 280 now back to a 65 as soon as it is back in stock. I forgot about fresh water. A 55 gallon then a 125 gallon African cichlids.
I love the start up, but actually like watching the fish and corals grow.

Started my first saltwater tank in 1965 with a juvenile French angel that I caught snorkeling at pompano beach Florida . Had several under gravel filter tanks in the 80’s. Ten years ago I built a 8 foot tank from incredibly heavy glass partitions that I found in the neighborhood. Strangely enough I just got into corals a year ago and have 4 lagoon reef tanks with 3 other 6 and 8 foot fish only tanks. Yes I am retired and live on a key in the central gulf Florida coast. Everyday I grab an oyster off my dock to feed my copperband Butterfly. So I guess that’s more than 10 tanks!

I’ve had well over 10 tanks. I’ve been in the hobby over 20 years. First tank in 1998 was a regular ten gallon tank with regular output fluorescent bulbs (2), a HOB power filter that had this horribly noisy protein skimmer built into it, a heater, some live rock, a damsel, a fire fish, a scooter blenny, and some zoanthids and mushrooms that came in on the live rock. It was basic and humble, but I loved that tank. I’ve had all sorts of tanks in between. Currently, I just have a 28g Nanocube. I’ve got six other empty tanks in my garage from 8 to 150g, I’ve had to downgrade and cut back due to health issues, I just can’t do the maintenance on that many tanks right now, and I don’t trust paying someone to do the maintenance (plus that’s part of what I love about the hobby).
