I know this is an old post, but was curious what size tank were you running these Tunze powerheads on?

I have 4 x 6055 that came with my 90 and am think about doing this conversion.

I am not sure who you are asking, but I have two 6095 and 6055/w 6095 nozzle. My is fish only so two do just fine, my fish love the current.

So, should I leave 2 as they are as 6055s and convert the other 2 to 6095? Using the 6055s along the back or mix them up?

Thanks

I run the two 6055’s modded to provide 6095 flow on a RedSea Reefer 250. It’s a 3’ tank.

I cannot tell which pump is the 6095 if you have the 6055 nozzle it is narrower so the stream in stronger.

The pumps are on sale now it you need more, I have 5 or 6 of them, half are the old style and the other half the new style. One of my good purchase was buying the extra wide bodies for 6095.

Just thinking. I have 2 more 6055s that i'm not using. Should i just run all 4 on a 90 gal. with Apex? I'm thinking that may be my best bet.

This mod essentially shortens the reach of the 6055. On a four foot tank I'd want the reach personally. You don't really need the grills either unless you leave the pumps off for extended periods. I have never used them on any Stream over the years and nothing has ever gotten inside the housing.
