Should I glue it down or let him keep it?

Hey reefers, my urchin has a new hat. I guess the bubble algae wasn’t doing it for him. He wanted something a little more bubbly, so he has my ricordea. I have already wrestled it from him 3x. I woke up this morning to find him sporting his mushroom hat yet again. I guess I’ll either have to glue it down or let him keep it haha. :p

Looks funny but it is behavior in order to get camouflage - its common among some urchins. Do you have a Trigger in your aquarium?

Sincerely Lasse

No trigger in my tank. Why do you ask? That’s an interesting fact about urchins. I read somewhere that they like to do that. He had my feather duster for a while. Maybe he thought it was a torch haha

Hahaha I love these guys :)
Personally I glue down everything that I don’t want to run away! But there are plenty of shells I toss in for them to “collect”. Plus it’s fun to see them cruising around with a top hat.

Yea, probably a good idea to glue it down. I didn’t think about him dropping it somewhere that I can’t easily get to. I’ll have to get some empty shells, or that cowboy hat I seen in the thread mentioned above. So cool! He is really fun to watch for sure!
