We just received this captive yellow tank. It has stripes both sides. Thoughts?? Under regular light his hello. It’s the blue light I think that maybe you can see through it. They are small. Thin still.

HLLE, iirc running carbon in the tank can cause tangs to get HLLE.

Since he is very much alive, what is there to do besides acclimate per the vendor instructions and release him either into the display tank or quaranatine tank? If you have concerns about his health, nipped fins, overall condition, I would think you have to reach out to the vendor to resolve them. His fins look pretty rough to me.

Yes we discussed the fins when we first opened the box , with the vendor. He admits there were many in the tank and the damage did some come that. I agree we are acclimating atm.

The stripes should fade as the fish matures. The yellow tangs from biota are not very colorful at a young age, almost translucent.

Fwiw I only acclimate for a few minutes when the fish has been sitting in a bag overnight. Ammonia can get high in a little bag with a heavy breathing fish.

Who ships a fish in this condition in the first place? Hard to imagine all that came up in the few hours of overnight shipping...

In regular light she look perfect, except her nipped at fins. Candycorals.com is where we purchased her as they have amazing customer service and have been very helpful on some coral and invert purchases.

Do fins rejuvenate? she is such a beautiful fish.
Easily cured by soaking food in selcon
Vitamin soaked food for sure. She will be fine. Another good one is Brightwell Vitamins.

Not all HLLE scars fade away and not all dorsal fins recover.
I've seen large YTs with scars from HLLE and deformities to their dorsal fins.
I'd want compensation if I paid alot for that fish and that's the way it was delivered.
