Has anyone ever shipped Corals to Canada with the proper CITES documents before ... I've heard firsthand that it's not as tough to apply for Canadian CITES permit to ship Corals to US!
Can anyone explain why is this so troublesome to import corals from US? Realize that it's not worth the trouble if the intended shipment is of a small quantity.
Just curious as to why it's such a hassle to do so

I think mainly it has to do with the extra paperwork per shipment, and retailers not knowing what the demand is for their products in Canada. I know those have been my concerns. I believe it is somewhere around $200 US to apply for the permits, meaning the retailer would need to make $200 profit on coral just to break even for the permit application fees. In a business where no one gets rich it seems like no one has been willing to take the step. Being a Maine-based business I'm closer to a lot of Canada than I am the rest of the US, but the associated costs and uncertainties have kept me from applying.
