I purchased a Red Sea Reefer 250 second hand, he said he purchased it about 16 months ago.

When i got it home I noticed this weird looking discoloration in the bottom front of the glass, does anyone know what this is? is it dangeorus? does it need to be fixed or cleaned?

This is where water has made an intrusion into the seam. Maybe it was not perfect when made. If it super clean you could run a bead of silicone along that edge.
Ask the seller if its always been like that.

Mine looks similar but on the sides and not not even close to as bad as that. Mine was cause by a scraper hitting the silicone.

That’s not the only think I would be addressing…. Whats up with all the scratches on the front display, what’s that pink ish on the overflow box, and the overflow chamber looks pretty scratched up as well.

I’d look into addressing everything, then doing a wet test on the tank to make sure there isn’t anything else wrong that we cant see with the naked eye. This is a great time to take apart the overflow piping and open up the flow control valve to give it a proper cleaning.
I’m always very suspect of sellers of used tanks, and is why I never buy any items that aren’t NIB.

Good luck, and keep us updated if you need further insight - once going, you will love this tank!

DONT FILL THAT THING!!! I just got a replacement sent to me from Red Sea for the exact same problem. I only had it up for 2.5 years too. That dude lied to you and had a new one sent to him from RS. Is the sticker with the serial number still on it? It’s in the overflow

Here is how mine looked and it’s not as bad but it was bad enough to get Red Sea to send me a brand new one. These are the Picts I had to send to them. I only asked about the serial number because they made me send them a picture of me cutting the sticker off the tank and into pieces. The old tank is a bad butt Frog Terrarium now

Red Sea said

" The separation does seem to be in the seam protector and not where the 2 pieces of glass actually meet but I would suggest doing a leak test before putting the aquarium to use"
