Thinking of getting a UV for my 17 gallon rimless to help fight some what I believe to be dinos. Got my nutrients up to where they should be, tank had no nitrates.

There is no sump so it would have to be internal. I think I could get away with something around 9-11W. Has anyone had success with using one in a nano? If so, what would you recommend

Look at the “green killing machine” that Percocet sells. It comes in a 9w and 24w reasonably priced

I didn’t see much about flow with those... for fighting dinos are we just concerned with the watts? Also was makes the 24W version different from the 25 Aqua version that retails for 4X as much?

I had a bacterial bloom in a 32 biocube I had and bought the 9w one. It cleared it up in about 3 days. I’m gonna say the quality isn’t as good as the higher priced ones, but I think for use only when needed these are fine. I just bought the 24w version to help with Dino’s in my 110 gal tank.

I’d confirm Dino’s before trying the UV which may or may not help depending on what kind it might be. Honestly, from the pics it looks like cyano. Get a kid grade microscope and check it out under magnification. Then if Dino go to the thread https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/d...ou-tired-of-battling-altogether.293318/unread
For options. Good luck. I had Dino’s now I have cyano.

When I did some preliminary testing I used the peroxide trick and the water did not turn pink. It’s been awhile since I did that test so I can try it again to double check.

Confirmed at least some cyano, will probably go the peroxide route before UV

I keep meaning to do the peroxide on my cyano. Let me know how it goes. So far I've just been manually removing and hoping it just runs its course.
