When is it safe to start adding fish after a velvet outbreak? The system is 6 months old and only has live rock in it. Tia

Your system should be fallow for 6 weeks.

If I may add. You really establish a bond with the fish in qt and if you have the budget you can make qt quite the show peice the fish will appreciate it!

Ya not trying to add right now...just wondering. I’ve been reefing for 15 years now and have been lucky enough to have never dealt with velvet. Took out 2 Snow Onyx Clownfish, 1 purple and 1 yellow tang, 1 Majestic Angel and the culprit Blonde Naso. Not a fun experience at all. I will either be quarantining from now on or buying already quarantined fish. Y’all’s thoughts....quarantine yourself or buy quarantined. Thank you everyone for your input.

One other question, my dt just went thru velvet is tied to my frag tank system. Should I keep it empty for the time being too? Does velvet hurt coral?

If the parasites have been through the system than everything needs to go fallow

If my tank had velvet, and 3 fish survived(including a hippo tang) no other fish have been added for 2 months and no signs of velvet do you think it is still present? It's extremely hard to get these fish out(200 gallon tank with many coral frags and colonies)
