Made a protein skimmer, mostly out of curiousity. Never seen one so wondering if this is working. Also what are risks of running a protein skimmer?

3 second video ummm.
I got quick glimpse of bubbles coming out your elbow but every protein skimmer I seen the bubbles rise up vertically then flow/pop over the edge and fall into the cup, your elbow where bubbles come out is at the side,if all manufacturers of protein skimmers have it raise up and over edge,it's probably because there research found it to work best this way but idk .
But if it removing green/brown glumpy stuff then guess its working as should, ovbiously takes time for internal neck and stuff to get a film and " break in" first
So how long it been running ?
Seen anything other than the clear white bubbles coming out that elbow ?

I have emptied two cups worth of nasty stuff. Need to get a better way for it to fall into the cup it’s a 1.5” PVC sticking straight up and it was bubbling and then falling back down the tube. Feel pretty happy with it, found a video on YouTube cause I didn’t wanna spend the big bucks on a real one

Bubbles are gushing in and level is above the neck. Lower flow via control valve reducing level below neck OR elevate skimmer slightly
