How big of a sump are you looking for though?48*18 The stand is fairly wide. I am not a fan of those magnetic latches. I might look to replace these with something with a sleeker profile at some point.
Was looking at a custom sump from Trigger. Probably 48*18. For where this tank is being placed, everything has fit in the stand this time. Ato reservoir, controller board, sump, calcium reactor or other dosing equipment, etc.

Can those bottom latches be removed and only use the top?

Yes, you can just use the top latch.

I doubt that sump will be an issue to fit in along with everything else.

First attempt to bring the tank from garage to inside failed. LFS had thought 2 people will do it but the dang thing is heavy. Trying again this Saturday but everything else is largely in place now. Just need to get the tank on the stand and fill it.

Mine is also just sitting in the garage. I think it would take at least 4 people to lift it on the stand and if you need to move it more than 10 feet, you're probably going to need at least 6.

looks good to far. Interseting looking discus you have there ;)

I would recommend to not get a moorish idol. They are very very hard to keep alive more than a few years at best. A fish that is best left in the ocean.

Hah, good point. Here is a picture with discus in it. Still a bit shy but colors are fantastic and at par with saltwater fish.

also have a moorish idol in quarantine for 3-4 weeks now. Doing well so far. But yup have heard about being difficult. Hopefully feeding sponge will help. We will see.

Hoping suction cups will help. Will let you know how it goes.

Got a cryptic seed package from reef farmers. Lots of sponges and feather dusters to seed the tank.
They came very well packed.

Tank is finally in its place, rock work is done and seen water. Got a small leak in crawl space (I have a remote sump) that I need to fix tonight but it took a long time getting here. Will post better pictures after lights are hooked up.

How does the stand feel stability wise with water in it?

Are you gunna be a sand man or no?

How many guys to move it around and put on the stand?
I was changing from a wood stand so this does not feel as solid. And if you try to shake it, it does shake the tank very slightly (I can tell by looking at the water surface). Also, I am on hardwood floors. I really wish they had added leveling feet on these.

will see if I wake up to any issues in the morning. But stand feels strong enough to hold.

no sand for now. Might add later if I don’t like the look of the tank. Went with an open layout for rock work for SPS. Want to be able to blast flow as much as possible. Plus easier to clean.

you need at least 4 guys and suction cups/dollies. I ended up paying an LFS 400 bucks to move it from garage up the stand. To get it up from ground to stand we needed 6 (4 plus a fellow reefer and me).

Introduced some fish today - a trio of pellet eating anthias, an exquisite wrasse and a pair of clownfish.

how's the flow? what's your powerhead setup?
Without any power head, there is significant flow in the tank. I have 2 MP60s at the bottom, they produce enough flow at 40%to make fish uneasy. Don’t think flow will be an issue. I am using varios 8 for return at 80%, I guess that packs quite a punch. You will see the mp60 is left bottom corner in this pic.

Thanks, what’s the situation on yours?

Yours look great! Appreciate the motivation. I am getting a few hours in on the remodel every week. Slowly but surely. Should have water this tank in June and lights up--i predict :) Work just keeps on coming in and the money is good--so have to pay for this somehow! lol.

Nice to hear about the MP 60's and flow.

I bought six MP 60's that i'll place on the back wall. Apparently overkill. LOL!! I just read so much about flow being an issue in peninsulas... Besides being a jacuzzi when i need, i guess, i'll them run in different patterns at a lower flow to keep the reef happy over time. Doesn't look like flow will be an issue.

It's fun and worked out well going slow. New ideas all the time.
