Please vote on this as my LFS and R2R supporters always give me a different answer. Cast your vote and help me determine how many I should have!

If I owned an LFS I'd say you need 30. I don't so I saw 5-10 will be enough. :) You don't "need" any. I have very few in my 75.

I vote ten. Ten is a good number. This thread reminds me, I think I only have ten in my 55. I think it is time to up that number. :)

I would say 5-6 of two or three different varieties. So anywhere from 15-20

I have 5 in my biocube and 1 hermit. That's all I can keep. Usually only have 2 snails. But I bought 3 more the other day.

Check out the GARF website they have calculator to figure it out and good prices on cleaner packs plus info on the snails and hermits.

I started with thirty and over time they have either died off or go sucked up or cought it power heads. If I had all the chash my power heads have eaten (thats a hole nother topic) I would say five should be pleanty for a 30g set up I have a 100g tank and find there still is not enough food to support more than ten or so. Plus they have babies and live in other parts of the tank as well but I never see them get to big. Happy invert shopping

I've got about 30 nassarius, 15 turbos, 2 Mexican turbos, and 50 blue legs in my 75. More the better IMO.

I vote 30 if we are talking about Nassarius. I only have about 10 in my 30, but I have a bunch of the small cerths and few hermits. I set up a 120 and 70 recently and went snail only with an algae scrubber (with macro algae). I'm having awesome results, but I guess most of the credit goes to the algae scrubber. My 120 has about 100 tiny cerths, 40 Nass and 3 conchs. I'll have to move some of the cerths when they get bigger.

You don't need very many unless you overfeed and/or have heavy stocking. ~5 snails of 2-3 varieties should be fine for that tank. so i'd vote 10.

Define regular snails? I like a variety as differnt species of snail will serve a different purpose...

+1. I would decide what your are looking for them to do then decide accordingly. I vote between 10-12
