Oh and I almost forgot. Mushrooms are great for filling any dark areas. Most do best in very very low light like complete shadow. :) adds a pop of color to an otherwise black hole

Aqua SD and WWC are good places to look for things you like. Aqua SD eBay is where you might find some good deals though. I’d say always check lfs and local reefers before online just cause it’s almost always cheaper
Most local people around me don’t even drag, I only have 2 local fs around me, they both sell very limited and very expensive coral

Wow, that’s really unfortunate. Then aqua sd would be the place I’d go for most corals. Aquatic arsenal for rock flower nems. Pacific East aquaculture is also good, but aqua sd is likely cheaper because of the eBay auctions. I feel like live sales would definitely be worth checking out for you. There’s one pretty much every weekend or so

Yeah only thing that worries me in those live sales are the critters that come along with it. Do they have the sales on Facebook or sum?

Critters like hitchhikers? Some places do have Facebook sales but many use eBay or just do live sales

IME live sales =/= pests. There are several coral dips that you can use to eliminate pests though if you’re worried. Super glue that aiptasia and you’re good to go. Live sales are good, reputable retailers that are just having a good sale usually around 20-30% off. I’ve participated in quite a few and always walk away happy. They have $5 frags, competitions for free corals/stuff, and really good deals on things like hammers that could run you $100 otherwise. Just something to check out and I think someone like you who’s looking for a lot of variety very quick will benefit a lot from a live sale. I usually walk away with about 7 new corals but only spend around $100

And these live sales are on eBay? Or are you talking about other reefers?

Live sales are when a coral company (Cali kid is having theirs tomorrow) such as calikid, Jason fox, WWC, or any other one has a sale. There’s a thread here on R2R where they post a photo of the coral with a discounted price and there’s only one (WYSIWYG) so the first person who buys it, wins it. They usually last between 5-12 hours and post hundreds of corals. They post a new coral every 1-3 minutes. Very fun to participate in and everything gets shipped to your door.

Clams are actually super super easy to have and maintained, especially if they’re aquacultured. Monti are great and also nice n easy, many favias you can get for around $15 on a lot of online retailers, just look around a bit. I do think that for this vision you’re going to need a powerhead on the right side somewhere (the indo torches love high flow, so the powerhead should be closest to it) and an upgraded light. AI primes are easy to find used and my AI Prime HD with the arm was only $100. Very affordable light.

I feel like the most expensive bits of this build are gonna be the torch (depending on if you get a high end one or not), the euphyllia garden (again, high end can get expensive), and the clams (they’re about $80-$200 depending on species and quality. My clam was $90 at LFS).
