Sooooo, I’m ready for some more fish and need some guidance, and maybe a slap for suggesting some of these. I have a 130G reef DT and a 29G QT.

Current livestock:

Corals
  • Season’s Greetings Montipora
  • Lemon Tip Clove Polyps
  • Fireworks Clove Polyps
  • Yellow Submarine Zoanthids
  • Mambo Jambo Zoanthids
  • Red People Eater Zoanthids
  • Kedds Reds Zoanthids
  • Utter Chaos Zoanthids
  • Radioactive Dragon Eye Zoanthids
  • Pinkish Anthellia
  • Pulsing Xenia
  • Deadpool Blastomussa
  • Fifth Element Blastomussa
  • Deadpool Mushroom
  • Tundra Torch

CUC
  • (6) Blue Leg Hermit Crabs
  • (7) Stomatella Snails

Fish
  • (2) Green Chromis
  • (2) Ocellaris Clownfish
  • (1) Coral Beauty
Fish that I would like to add to the DT (after the QT):
  • (2) Yellow Tangs (2.5-3.25”)
  • (1) Blue Hippo Tang (2.5-3.5”)
  • (1) Powder Brown Tang (3.5-4.25”)
  • (1) Powder Blue Tang (3”+)
  • (3) Pajama Cardinals (1.75-2”)

Other fish I wouldn’t mind:
  • Tailspot Blenny
  • Blue Spotted Jawfish
  • Green Mandarin Dragonet
  • Yellow Watchman Goby
  • Six Line Wrasse
What tang(s) can I get if they are introduced at the same time, and can I get others? What would be the best introduction order? What else should I add to the CUC? Any help/advice would be much appreciated!

Ok let's go down to just one yellow tang and pick either the powder blue or brown tang (and be ready for the stress they bring). Ditch the hippo.

I'm unsure if 3 cardinals will get along but I know if you get a male and a female they'll have babies.

Blue spotted jawfish needs pretty cool water...

Wrasses are awesome. Nothing wrong with the six line but they are aggressive and I prefer a leopard and maybe a flasher.

Dragonette is a must have but should be added last once your tank is mature.

Go for it with the blenny! Maybe a firefish too!

For cuc I like nassarius snails. Brittle and serpent stars are awesome but don't clean too much unless you have a fish die, then they are great. How about an urchin?

For a bioload like this I hope you have some serious filtration going. Add the tangs all at once. Otherwise add fish slowly. Watch your bioload/nutrients and decide if your tank can handle each additional fish!

Here’s what I’d do:

-x2 Blue Green Chromis
-x2 Ocellaris Clownfish
-x1 Coral Beauty Angelfish

For the Tangs (I would put no more than 2 in a 130 and this is assuming it’s a 6’ tank):

-x1 Yellow Tang (smallest of the Zebrasoma)
-x1 Powder Brown / Powder Blue Tang (choose one out of the two) OR a Tang from the Ctenochaetus family (Kole, Tomini, Squaretail, White Tail)

For the rest:
-Tailspot Blenny
-BSJ is a cooler water fish, I’d replace it with a tropical species like the Yellowhead
-x3 Pajama Cardinals (again not sure if 3 will get along but hopefully they’ll have enough space to co-exist)
-x1 YWG (pair it with a Pistol Shrimp please and thank you xD)
-Six Line Wrasse (Yeah they’re nice to look at but don’t try adding another other wrasses with it)
-Green Mandarin Dragonet (only add when tank is mature, if you have a refugium for pods even better)

To recap:
-x2 Blue Green Chromis
-x2 Ocellaris Clownfish
-x1 Coral Beauty Angelfish
-x1 Yellow Tang
-x1 PBT / Powder Brown Tang / Tomini / Yellow Eye Kole / Squaretail / White Tail Tang
-x3 Pajama Cardinalfish
-x1 Green Mandarin Dragonet
-x1 Tailspot Blenny
-x1 Yellowhead Jawfish
-x1 Yellow Watchman Goby + Tiger Pistol Shrimp
-x1 Green Mandarin Dragonet
-x1 Six Line Wrasse (if you don’t plan to add any wrasses)

You could even consider some of the more peaceful damsels from the genus Chrysiptera. A pair of Yellowtails, or Azures would add some nice blue color.

If you want more than one wrasse, replace the 6-Line with a Halichoeres sp. and then add maybe 2 more smaller wrasses (Fairies, Flashers, Pink Streak, Possum).

@xxkenny90xx / @Zionas,

Thank you both for the input! This gives me a good roadmap. For filtration, I have filter socks, carbon and a good size skimmer.
Fwiw I don't like running carbon all the time. Only when the water is contaminated with something. Studies have linked carbon with lateral line disease...

Be sure to have lots of live rock and if you can add some chaeto or an algae turf scrubber

I hadn't heard about the carbon issue. I tell ya, I'm learning so much from all of the members here.
