If your water leaves are perfect should you still do a water change?

How do you know its perfect ? there are several things you cannot test for - like DOC/Organics, presence of certain elements etc. So a water change is a way of partially exporting those undesirables.

Depends on you. There are going to be trace elements that aren't being tested. However if the major ones are where you want them then weekly changes probably aren't necessary. Lots of people don't do frequent changes. Tank age and size are both large factors for this.

No, you don't need to do a water change if your levels are perfect.

As @Deep mentioned though, whether you can know it is actually perfect or not is not really possible, there are things that can't really be tested for.

At the same time, there's no guarantee that any specific amount of water change would remove/replenish all that is needed either, at least when it comes to untestable parameters.

Water changes are most useful to control things you cannot or do not measure. That's what folks were suggesting.

Some folks do none and are fine. Others do lots of changes. It up to you.

I personally would do water changes.
