I’m wondering if anyone gets their water from the ocean for their tanks? I’m on the coast in the wilmington NC area and wondering what the thoughts are on doing this. I’ve only been running a tank for 10 months so very new to this. I’ve got my own boat and getting ocean water would not be a problem.

Wouldn't recommend from Wilmington. That water would not be very good for the tanks. Biota does it in Florida but there is much different water there.

Well yes depends on where you get it from, high tide is recommended and where there isnt much boat traffic, pollution ect.. I have used ocean water since setting up tank 4 months now and have never had an issue. The only parameter I really need to raise is alk as its only 6.8 where I live so dose some alk and all set.. plus its Free.

Used to buy natural sea water from LFS at $0.20c/L but its a good hour out with the young fella collecting 150L every 2/3 weeks. He enjoys it.
