Its a tube that one end is underwater. When you turn the pump off water will rise to the level the skimmer is sitting in.
Does it not clear out when you turn the pump back on?

No it dosent clear out when I turn the pump back on. I have to shut my skimmer off when feeding. I have an aio so the back sump area fills up when return pump is shut off. So I have to turn my skimmer off so it dosent overflow.

It must not have enough suction to pull the water out of the loop on the bottom. Not sure you can fix that.
Can you turn the pump so the tube is up and get rid of the loop?

Yes I can definitely turn the tube so it's facing upwards. But everything I read online said it should be facing down which really didn't make sense to me which way it was facing. I'll give it a shot and see what happens.

I have never used on of those skimmers. On a big one though it is best to have the venturi on top.
I guess you could put a check vale on the air line but if it stuck you would flood again. If the air cant be forced out the water couldn't go in.

There is supposed to be a slider on the pump that adjusts the air intake. Have you tried opening or changing that?

I removed the slider completely because of having tight area to work in. Now I'm thinking there was to much flow?
