I'm setting up my 180g to be a mixed reef and have a 600g thats in the garage till we finish building our new house. Seems like with the advent of wave makers like MP40's and the Gyre series most people have done away with closed loop systems being served by things like Oceans Motions units. Is there any stock in believing this is now the case? The new generations of wave makers have replaced hard plumbed closed loop systems?

I've been going back and forth about which system to use on the 180g and eventually transfer it over to the 600g and wanted to ask all the bright people here what they thought about each. Pros/Cons.

Vince.

Nothing wrong with closed loop. When i go to a 500 gallon , i plan on a big closed look system with power heads along the back wall.
