This has been raised on another thread (@Nik Mason) and is a very good question, so come on guys let’s here from everyone.

I’ll start us off by saying I keep mine as follows, or thereabouts!

Salinity 35ppm
Phosphate 0.03ppm or less
Nitrate 5-10ppm
Calcium 430ppm
Alkalinity 8.2dKH
Magnesium 1310-1360ppm
PH 8.2

There are going to be infinite answers on this subject.

For all interested if you haven’t already seen them here are two articles which are very interesting as the parameters are not what you may expect and all the tanks are, well, masterpieces!

Thanks for the links, really interesting

My water looks like this
Salinity 1.025
Phosphate .08
Nitrate 15
Calcium 480
Alk 13
Mag 1400

i'm dosing mag and cal when I see them drop, I do have a cal reactor but still see cal drop, the probe is calibrated and the controller is set at a PH of 6.6, the big puzzle for me is my alk never drops, I have started to add hydrogenchloride acid to get it down,
I read in posts that the tank use's it up but after a year its still the same hence the acid. Maybe I should turn off the cal reactor until I get my alk where I want is and then try again, will do this this weekend.
regards,
Nik
