Hello All,
Finally setting up a new tank after a few years out of the hobby (moving and getting married.)

I currently have a Spectra Pure 90gpd with a booster pump registering 90 psi and getting great results.

I ordered the brs water saver and hooked it up correctly. However I am not getting any additional efficiency.

To trouble shoot the new RO membrane and flush it, I ran just the new membrane and RO water barely trickles out. Is there a brake in period before it’s starts flowing like the original?

the three pics are the new upgrade membrane label, new upgrade membrane installed (longer stem,) and original/existing membrane (shorter stem.)

any help or insight is greatly appreciated!

New filters often have slower flow than previous filters. the 'savings' should be in your waste-water - have you noticed that also decreasing? It could be that your prior membrane was 'leaking' a lot. The key is - does it meet what its supposed to (i.e. if its a 75 gallon/day filter is it producing that or more) - its practically (though nothing is completely impossible) - to mis-plumb the filter to cause 'less flow'.

So the waste water from the first (original) RO membrane feeds the inlet of the second (new) RO membrane which still expels the same amount of waste water… because it isn’t producing any new clean water.

when I went to just flush the new membrane, clean water barely dripped out.. so the new one does not meet the spec…

that being said I only let it run for a few minutes. I’ll leave it on for maybe 15 mins tomorrow and see if that increases the flow.

Either I'm misunderstanding - or what you're your set up is wrong. 1. The water saver is designed to use with BRS equipment (probably not a problem). 2. The equipment is designed to only be used with certain systems (?Your problem)? I would check with BRS - and or the manufacturer of your filter - to see if the 2 are compatible?

Hmm interesting.. I’ll reach out to them tomorrow.. the spectrapure I have looks extremely similar to theirs, but maybe it isn’t compatible. The RO’s look identical.

Looks like BRS is compatible with Spectrapure…. I’ll email them anyway asking if I’m doing something wrong anyway.

Ok, I switched the order of the RO Membranes and its running smoothly now! I have gone from a Reject Ratio of 1:6 (40 psi,) to 1:3 (w/ booster pump @ 90 Psi,) to now 1:2 with the BRS Water Saver Upgrade Kit...

Great Results
