Wanted to have a salt water tank for the longest time, finally decided to get into it a few weeks back. Did all the reading and research for weeks so I thought I had it figured what to do. No convenient way to get RODI water so used a freestanding water filling station and registered 8 PPM, which I thought was fine but now reading about possible issues for anything over 0.

water is in the tank already along with the salt water mix. Just started the cycling process. Is there anything I can put in the water Now to prevent cyano or other issues down the road?

First I would try and figure out why your still getting 8ppm from your unit. Depending on tank size you could do a couple water changes if you’d like. Honestly I don’t think it’s necessary and just let the tank do it’s thing. Cyano will show it’s ugly face even at 0ppm water so it’s more of maintaining levels but like I said let’s fix the 8ppm first.
