Hey,

So I'm getting set up with my Waterbox 100.3.
It's my first reef tank.... Giving it my best shot.
Doing this build thread to learn from experienced reefers so please don't be shy to criticise, I won't be offended.

When buying the equipment and setting this tank up I am trying to keep in that I may upgrade to a bigger tank if all goes well after a couple of years. I'd also like to set up to withstand roughly a two week holiday (excluding the feeding).

*PARTS LIST* (to date)
Tank: Waterbox 100.3
Pump: Vectra M1
Wavemakers: x2 Ai Nero 5's
Skimmer: Nyos Quantum 160
Lights: x2 Radion XR30 Gen 5's
ATO: AutoAqua Smart ATO

1) I've set up a R/O 5 stage water filter supply to be plumbed directly into the sump for ATO.
In return Ive won some much needed real estate by not using the ATO reservoir.
Managed to run the pipe from the kitchen under the house to the back of the tank (winning).
Getting 0 ppm on the TDS meter, Happy days.

2) Got the tank built and positioned. Very happy with the overall quality and packaging from Waterbox.
Very lucky the subfloor under there is concrete and level. This location has no direct sunlight.
I am worried about the glare from the lights when watching TV. I'll need to build a canopy or hood.

3) Having to do daily filter sock changes and washing them etc does not appeal to me at all, rather spend that time maintaining something else on the tank. I'll be installing a Clarisea SK-3000.
Pulling my brand new sump apart was a bit scary but will hopefully be worth it. Took about 2 hours, 5 razor blades and lots of cuts on my hand but successfully removed the filter sock holders.
The sump is now huge and will allow me to easily plumb the water return directly into the clarisea.

Next steps....
Ill pick up the clarisea this week and get it installed.
Will do the aquascape using carib sea Liferock and outstanding selections reef sand.

Hopefully, this week will fill the tank and start the cycle.

The Neptune products are very appealing but space is limited. Will get this setup and decided what to do with dosing etc. Has anyone on here managed to fit the Neptune gear into a similar-sized tanks cabinet?

Cheers

Nice to see another 100.3. Not many on here from my research a while ago. The stock sump definitely blows in my opinion, so any upgrade to the sump is a good upgrade! (I have all my equipment on the outside of my tank. Nothin fancy just my powerheads, return pump, dosers)

This is where I’m at.
Now running a kamoer xr4 pro doser
Aqua ultraviolet 25w UV sanitizer
Co2 scrubber
And as mentioned before
Clarisea 3000
nyos 160 skimmer
Will be adding a media reactor when I can find the right one.

The water is always crystal clear.
