So I have the orphek mounted to the kessil ap700 tank mount but in my other build talked about some modifications like drilling the holes out. I have it only supported by the rear two mount which feel very sturdy but I thought if doing this new build might as well beef it up. Here it was.

So I ordered some strips of 7075 aluminum. 1/4" thick.

I drilled some holes in it, and drilled larger ones in the ap700 mount since the bolts are not that long to recess the mounting nuts a bit.

Now I will tap those two holes you see below the empty spots on the ap700 mount and put short screws in and perhaps a spot of jb weld to be safe. Then will paint the supports black. Should give a lot more support and not even be noticable.

Got the threads tapped, which I have never done before. It's very satisfying to do I must admit...

I just found some screws I had and cut off the extra with Dremel cutoff wheel.

It took some extra drilling holes wider to get the final thing all sorted out but I am pretty happy. I will leave it up like this until the jb weld hardens before I remove it and paint it all black. I will probably use flexidip as it's worked well for me in the past.

And boom, all done with the support and painting. When the new stand comes I have 2 of the kessil extension to attach to the stand and some PVC too. Will see how it goes but happy this is done. I really enjoy diy improvising part of the hobby.

I have a WB 130.4 Enroute Early june as im excited. I also thought about starboard in white to act like sand as i dont like the glass bottom look but would be easier to clean debris... havent thought about black but as of now. no decision was made. but most likely will be putting about 1.5-2" Sand in

Placed an order directly from ORA (via LA) for a purple plasma and pearlberry acro. I have always loved pearlberry but seems like there is quite a debate about 'real' ones. I don't care about the names, but I know how pretty the OG is, so figure if I want that I better just get it!

I so hate the ORA plugs. Will have to see if the corals are encrusted on them. I will try to cut them flat if nothing else.

Quick pics of the pearlberry and purple plasma. Although expensive the frags direct from ORA are proper size, not little nubs! The PB is totally encrusted down the plug.

Hate ora plugs. Cut the base off with Dremel cutoff wheel.

I got in the last half hour/hour so less competition. Almost nothing was left when it ended as they marked some down even further. You pick any up?
