I have had my Waterbox 70.2 up and running for 26 months. It is going “swimmingly” but all good things must come to an end. However, with endings come new beginnings.

In just a few short day I will begin my new Waterbox 180.5 build. The road to get here started 2 months ago. We decided to redo all of our floors. We are going from carpet and dated tile to Vinyl, wood plank, water proof flooring. We are also putting the new tank in a new room.

I hope to add pics along the way. Seeing as I don’t have the tank yet I will start out with a pic of the blank wall/floor where the tank is going to be placed.

Just an FYI I don’t plan on keeping the cat there.

i will have an outlet behind the tank. It is on a GFIC line. The GFCI is on an earlier outlet in the line. If it trips, it will be easier to get to without being behind the aquarium.

All that being said, I believe in safety, redundancy. Therefore, I bought a water resistant outlet cover. These are made to go outside so I am confident it will help with potential splashes and salt creep.

The cover lifts up to allow the plugs to be plugged in and closes with a small opening at the bottom for the wires. I will have my two Neptune Apex EB8-32 plugged into the wall and they will run to the dry side of my cabinet.

Installed the waterproof outlet cover for behind the aquarium tonight. It’s already on a GFCI outlet but more safety equals more peace of mind.

These are available at most big box hardware stores for less than $10. A very small price to pay for added protection.

The build foreman for the Waterbox 180.5 constitution:

His name: Stone Cold Steve Austin. We call him Stone. He was named by our kids.

Stone had to check everything out and every thing I did he was there to inspect to make sure it was done properly. As a good foreman would do.

The stand is together. Next up is the lighting. The plan is to make a “floating box” of sorts. The “box” will hang off the wall, “floating” about 3” or so out with out any wires to the celing. The power cords will run into the wall so the cannot be seen.

Things are coming in. The build is going good but slow. I now have my “Inline Probe Holder 4” ready once I start the plumbing. This is made by Adaptive Reef and hold up to 4 probes for monitoring.

Here is my new aquascape for the build. This was made by Kevin at Top Shelf Aquatics in Orlando, FL. (Left and right respectively)

I did a lot or research looking for the best lighting solution for our aquarium. I wanted something that didn’t hang from the wall or ceiling and nothing that our sit on or attach to the glass.

I decided to make my own out of 8020 extruded aluminum. It cost a bit more but it was so worth the price. It was purchased at McMaster and Carr.

I have been working on moving the equipment over from my 70.2. So busy I forgot to take pics.

Here is the tank, day 4, with tester corals. One SPS one LPS. If all goes well, I will start to move the rest over tomorrow.

(I forgot to put my lenses on the phone.)
